Mark Wiegert is a 26 year veteran of law enforcement and has spent the last 24 years with the County. He started as a patrol officer and worked his way up to the position of Sergeant Investigator then Undersheriff / Lieutenant, a position he currently holds.
Wiegert is currently in charge of the Investigative and Corrections division of the Sheriff’s department, overseeing the jail and detectives and managing 28 employees. He has experience in ALL aspects of law enforcement at a county level, from patrol to corrections and investigations.
His training throughout the years is extensive and includes areas such as death investigations, arson investigations, sexual assault and more. He is also an instructor in the Art of Interviews & Interrogations and Active Shooter Training
He has been involved with several professional associations to further his expertise and share his knowledge:
Mark holds a degree in criminal justice from Lakeshore Technical College. In 2008 he received the distinguished Police Officer of the Year award from the Wisconsin Professional Police Association and the Meritorious Service Award from the Wisconsin Association of Homicide Investigators.
In 2007 he was honored with the Outstanding Victim Advocate Award from the WI Victim Witness Professional Association, and in 2015 he received an award of recognition from the Wisconsin chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
